Peer Review Process

The Journal uses a double-blind peer review system that guarantees the anonymity of authors and reviewers.

The process is carried out in two stages.

  • In the first stage: submitted works receive a preliminary evaluation by the Editorial Team to ensure three aspects:
  1. Relevance of the topic with respect to the scope declared by the Journal.
    1. Fulfillment of minimum presentation format requirements.
    2. Originality and unpublished nature at the time of evaluation.

If the work conforms to the aforementioned aspects, the process continues; otherwise, authors are notified with the reasons why the work is not accepted. At this point, the Turnitin platform is used for plagiarism detection.

  • In the second stage, the following steps are taken:
  1. The review itself is carried out by the Scientific Evaluation Committee, composed of external and internal peer reviewers from the journal's publishing institution.
  2. Reviewers can accept/reject their role as evaluators upon receipt of the works.
  3. Each reviewer receives the work, the publication guidelines, and the evaluation guide. The evaluation guide asks reviewers to: indicate compliance with formal and content criteria; make an assessment of the article including observations and suggestions; recommend publication with minor or major modifications, or not recommend publication of the article.
  4. Once the editorial team receives feedback from the reviewers, they proceed to prepare a document that compiles the experts' observations. Based on this document, the editorial team decides whether the authors can submit a new version of the work or if the work is withdrawn from the process.

This information is sent to the authors. If they decide to continue with the process, the editor assigns a new deadline depending on the depth of the required adjustments. If the authors choose not to proceed, the work is withdrawn from the journal's database. If the work is rejected by the reviewers, the feedback provided by the reviewers is sent, and it is informed that the work is withdrawn from the journal's database.

  1. The evaluation process may involve more than one review round: each round has a minimum deadline of 4 (four) weeks and is submitted to at least 2 (two) specialist reviewers on the topic.
  2. Reviewers receive a certificate of participation as "Academic Peer Reviewer."
  3. The evaluation process allows for constant feedback among authors, reviewers, and the editorial committee.
