Recommendations for feeding in artificial rearing of goat kids

Abstract

Goat activity in Buenos Aires province is relatively recent and. although its participation in the national stock is low, it has been growing in recent years in response to the need to develop productive alternatives for small surfaces. At the same time, interest has arisen from several agricultural teaching institutions. The purpose is mainly dairy, making it necessary to adopt appropriate management technologies. Among them it is artificial lactation (breeding), which allows all the milk to be used for milking. Although this technology is widespread in cattle dairy farms, its application by the goat sector is smaller and more recent, making it necessary to generate protocols based on feeding management, among other aspects. Our working group has been carrying out artificial breeding of goats, and based on our own experience, that of producers in the area and the bibliography, we provide recommendations.
