POLIFONÍA Y CONSTRUCCIONES IDENTITARIAS EN LA HOJARASCA DE GABRIEL GARCÍA MÁRQUEZ

Resumen

El presente estudio se aboca al carácter polifónico de La hojarasca de Gabriel García Márquez, el cual se constituye como un procedimiento vital que atraviesa toda la obra. El principal problema que aborda este trabajo es qué función posee la multiplicidad de voces. En la medida que los narradores se suceden unos a otros, se ensayan también las respuestas a dos grandes interrogantes: ¿Quiénes son los otros? ¿Quiénes somos nosotros? Cabe preguntarse, entonces, ¿qué vinculación existe entre estos movimientos que intercalan las voces de los narradores y sus representaciones de los otros y de sí mismos? Una posible respuesta sugiere que estas construcciones identitarias, lejos de permanecer estancadas, son fluidas y se presentan interpeladas por los vínculos sociales, familiares y amorosos, de manera análoga a la construcción polifónica de la novela.

ABSTRACT

The present study focuses on the polyphonic character of Gabriel García Márquez's La Hojarasca, which is constituted as a vital procedure that goes through the entire novel. The main problem addressed by this study is what function the multiplicity of voices has. As long as the narrators succeed one another, they also practice the answer to two big questions: Who are the others? Who are we? It is worth asking, then, what connection exists between these movements that intersperse the voices of the narrators and their representations of others and of themselves? One possible answer suggests that these identity constructions, far from remaining stagnant, are fluent and challenged by social, family and love bonds, in an analogous manner to the polyphonic construction of the novel.
